Old find

Good afternoon ladies,

Wow, I needed a second cup this morning just to pick myself up.  I don't know about you but this rain needs to stop now.

While treasure hunting I came across this super cute OLD hat.  It is marked USA Union made.  I thought it was such a fun find, I bought it:)

Isn't it so cute?

I hope you had a wonderful weekend.

A painting

Good Friday morning to you:)

I had another fun project to do yesterday.  I got a painting a while back that I didn't like but liked the frame.  I have been sitting with it thinking....

The frame reminds me of what Restoration Hardware is selling right now.

Wayne left his handy dandy screw driver out so I unscrewed the canvas from the frame and put duck cloth over the painting.

When we were in Maui I bought this card.  I hadn't decided what to do with it... I hot glued it to the duck cloth.  What do you think?  I really like how it turned out.

I hope your three or four day weekend is wonderful!

A bottle holder

Good morning ladies,

I had so much to say yesterday but was busy from 9:00am to 9:30pm.  I had the pleasure of going for my first time to Mothers Bistro in downtown Portland.  As a girl who has lived in Portland my whole life, I cannot believe it took me so long to find this yummy restaurant!  I had an open faced frittata with feta cheese, sun dried tomatoes and spinach.  I was in heaven:)

I felt as if I hadn't been in downtown for a long time.  There is something exhilarating for me when I walk the streets.  I feel like I have a spring in my step.... I know, I lead a pretty tame life:)

Today while getting gas at the Space Age on 185th I noticed that there is a Post Office located in the same parking lot.  I was glad that I now have an option instead of just going to Bales.  Don't get me wrong, I LOVE Bales but it is a huge temptation for me to not buy any of their cream cheese frosting:)

One of the treasures I found at a garage sale last weekend was a wine holder.  I don't drink wine, but loved it and knew I could come up with something to use it for.

I decided to put all of my bigger older bottles in.

I love it:)  I had these all stored away and now I get to see them every day.

Happy Thursday to you all.  I am off to clean bathrooms.

Fun project

Good sunny afternoon to you:)

I hope you are out enjoying the big ball in the sky.  I have been getting the cob webs out of my brain and doing a make it up as you go project.  I found this at Goodwill...

I spray painted it white.

I realized that the circle glass wouldn't fit over the entire frame and I didn't want the back ground they gave me.  I dug through the recycle for a piece of cardboard big enough to cut out in a circle that would fit in the circle.

I got out my duck cloth and cut it in a circle using my cardboard as a template.

I used blue painters tape to adhere the duck cloth onto the cardboard.

The frame was broken.... I am starting to understand why it was at Goodwill:)

I hot glued it together and used some burlap garland to cover seem.

I stenciled on beach house and hot glued shells to it.  As you can see, my house is not straight.... so...

I shoved some burlap garland under the starfish and glued more shells to it.  I think I love it:)

Hope Tuesday is a good one for you!

Fun Find:)

Today I found two old horse shoes.  I bought them because I thought they were cool looking.  I know there is some fun way to decorate with these, any ideas?

Happy Monday to you all.  Here is to the sun showing itself tomorrow:)

Patience pays off.

I was so excited to find this way to keep track of the date and day of the week.  I have been looking for one for about a year now and I found it at my favorite store.... you guessed it, Goodwill.

I only wanted the calendar.

I just had to unscrew a couple of screws.... no problem.  WRONG!  I couldn't find the correct size screw driver.  I had to wait until Wayne got home and he had it off quick:)

I really love this.  I only wish it was silver.  Oh well, at least I have it:)  The best part as usual was its low price.

If you wait long enough with your wish list, you will eventually find it:)

Hope your Sunday treated you well.

Decorating your backyard.

Happy sunny Thursday to you:)  I always get so excited on Thursdays wondering and dreaming about what I will find treasure hunting on Fridays!

I love it when the days get warmer and I can extend my living area.  Not that I am not blessed with enough room in my house, it is just that the back of my house where we do most of our living is pretty dark.  I love to make my backyard my family room for the spring/summer.  The great thing is that the more rusty and chippy things get, it seems the better they look:)

Last week when I put the chalkboard and mailbox on the porch I moved to the back the iron plant holder.  I decided to put shells and rope in instead of plants.  I found the basket cheap and didn't know what I was going to do with it.... but then it too found a home:)

Now, I just have to add a refrigerator:)

Happy Thursday and if you go treasure hunting tomorrow, happy hunting:)

Outdoor lighting

As I looked around my backyard I realized that all of my jars with candles hanging from trees had broken over the winter.  So...... I went to Goodwill and spent a whopping $2.97 buying new jars.

I cut some thick twine and got out my battery operated tea lights.

Put the tea lights in and tied the twine to the wire.

And hung them on my new Pier 1 garage sale $7 umbrella:)

My friend Heather brought me my birthday gift yesterday after I had purchased the jars..... These jars are really fun:)  Thanks Heather!

I put them on my weather vane.  I think they will look nice lit up at night!

I hope you are enjoying this amazing Sunny Wednesday!

Outdoor cover ups for cheap

Good sunny Tuesday to all of you:)  I am writing this in my warm, sunny backyard.  I started using a new body lotion I got at TJ Maxx for cheap, it is olay old age or something.  The cool thing is I have sparkles all over me.  I'll have to take a picture of it and show you.  It is important for me to smile about the little fun things in life:)  I have had a migraine for 4 days.... ugh:(  If you have any ideas or medicine, let me know.  I have tried Excedrin Migraine, tylenol, ibuprofin, the chiropractor, nothing seems to work.

Anywhoo, I thought I would share with you some of my cheap finds to get your backyard areas ready for summer.  I always look at Goodwill in their curtain/shower curtain section.  This has provided me with amazing finds over the years.  I am way too lazy to clean all of my outdoor sitting areas so I simply find a curtain I like and drape it over chairs (after I wash it of course:) ).  I found this Pottery Barn slipcover, washed it and put it over my bench...

It is a great way to keep your sitting area looking more decorated, and you won't give you any splinters:)

We made the upper level of their play structure into a fort.  I just threw away last years window covers as they had been through an entire year of Oregon's weather.  I found this shower curtain for $2.99 and cut it up to cover both big openings in their fort.  It is a restoration hardware shower curtain:)  I love it.  I also used a shower curtain to cover up under the fort where we store all of the toys, chairs, etc.

I am so happy that I don't have to look at all of that junk from inside my house.

I love to listen to music when I am outside and so do my kids.  You can find a radio/CD player at Goodwill for under $10.00.  This way you won't be sad if it gets ruined or stolen.  I transfer this from the front porch to the backyard as I need it.

You don't have to spend a lot of money to make your yard presentable and relaxing:)

Happy Tuesday,

Dena

Why not have an outdoor cocktail party?

Good Sunday to you all:)

I hope this day is treating you well.  After last weeks hard work in my yard, I thought it would be fun to have a cocktail party.  It was such fun going into my storage area and finding all of my summer things:)  I didn't get out the umbrellas and I was amazed that we kind of needed them because it was so hot:)  What a wonderful problem to have.

I found a frame that I liked at Goodwill a while back and spray painted the frame white and the hard back with chalkboard paint.  I found a black mail box and painted it white.  I love that I can write a message to come on in, leave the screen door open and pretend for a while that it is summer:)

I got my wicker tea cart out and filled it with fun glasses.

At a garage sale on Friday I found these old apple wooden bins that were originally from the Sauvie Island pumpkin patch and I got three for $2 total:)  I love the old casual yet elegant look they create.

Just add food, drinks friends and sit and enjoy friends and the sun.

Happy Sunday to all of you.

Thoughts.....

Today is  my 42 birthday.  While running errands my brain started talking to me.  Some of you are already blessed with the wisdom my brain was telling me....  Love who you are.  Love your body as it is.  Be who you really are.  Embrace your passions.  Don't worry what others think of you.  Go after  your dreams.  You can do anything you set your mind to do.  Spread joy.   Be the best you can be.  Take time to breathe:)  Today is the first day of the rest of your life.  Life is short, make every minute count.

Wow!~  I didn't realize my brain was so wise!  Here is to another year of embracing who I am, wrinkles, fat, stretch marks and all:)

Happy Thursday!

Dena;)

PS.... Don't you LOVE the green coat?  It was found while treasure hunting... I think someone made it themselves....  Also, the plant is my favorite.... string of pearls.  It looks like little peas:)

Pretty Goodwill finds.

Good afternoon,

Luckily I finished the weeds before the rain started.  Happily 5 1/2 hours later I am semi weed free:)  I went to the nursery and found some pretty flowers.  I also found some pretties at Goodwill.

I found each of these for .99 each and I hot glued them together.

I can't wait to serve yummies on this:)

This necklace has pretty pink beads.  It is really fun on.

This is a clear beaded bracelet.

What fun treasures I found all for $6.00.  Such fun!

Happy Wednesday,

Dena:)
