Sping break in Gearhart:)

Happy soggy Thursday to you all!
I am not exaggerating when I say that it has been wet and windy at the beach!
Dylan and I tried to go out to the beach yesterday and our faces were pelted with sand.
I think the wind was at least 100 mph.

We are staying in a house built in 1914.
It is quite cute but extremely noisy.
The house shakes with the wind.
I came with my kids and a good friend and her kids.
Here are a few shots of the house.

The entire downstairs is wrapped in bead board.
I LOVE it!

It has a covered porch which is great for weather like we are having.

Alex has been studying for her drivers permit.
I am not ready for this!

Dylan & Sam are playing some sort of a spy game:)

I love the color  of the little table:)

I love the big windows.
The white walls make it so bright even on a dreary day.

The owner has made this home so cozy!

Even though it is not on the ocean it is still super fun.

I hope your day is dry and amazing!

Time for a change

Happy Monday morning of spring break.
Do you think my kids slept in?
NO!
They were in my room at 7:25am asking if they could play wii.
They were in my room at 7:55 asking if they could go to the movies today.
I guess I should be glad they are asking:)

As many of you know Mr. SSH and my kiddos have season ski passes.
This leaves me alone one weekend day a week from November until May.
If you know me at all you know my brain works hard when left on its own.
By working hard I mean thinking up things I could change around my house.
Sooooooo, yesterday I opened up the new Pottery Barn catalogue.
By page 3 my brain sprouted an idea.

It was difficult if not impossible to sit on the bench.

Now you can sit and put on shoes without being poked.

What do you think?

Are there things in your home you are considering changing?

Have an amazing day!

A little craftiness:)

Good Sunday to you:)
I wanted to use this sign for more than just Christmas time.
I went through all of my drawers of ideas.

A while back I found this old drop cloth at Goodwill for $1.99.

I cut out a piece of it and hot glued the ends to the wood.

I had these paper words and glued them on.

I just hope I can remember to:
Be loving.
Be hopeful.
Be grateful.

I hope your day is all you want it to be.

Dried flowers & fun containers

Good Saturday evening to you all:)
I hope you enjoyed that beautiful big ball in the sky today:)
I know I did!

I love these yellow ball flowers!
You can find them at New Seasons & Sammy's Flowers off of NW 23rd.
I also love the found tea cup and brown bottle:)

They are like little sun balls.

I found this little port glass at Goodwill for .99.
I found the cute tiny violet plant at Cornell Farms.
I love them together:)

I hope you have an amazing rest of your weekend!

A new pillow

Good afternoon girls:)
I got to meet a wonderful girl who has an amazing blog.
She lives in the Bethany area and has a thing for pillows.
She was purging some of her pillows and I met her today to buy one of them.

It fits perfectly with my other pillows:)
Her blog is a lot of fun to peruse.

I love the tag!

She told me how to make my pictures bigger.
I can't believe how easy this was!

I hope your snow day was fun:)

Have a great day.

Baking in style

Good Monday afternoon:)
I was blessed to find two anthropologie aprons at Goodwill.

Sammy is sporting this cutie.
It still had the price tag on for $24.
I got it for $2.99:)

Another cutie:)
Which one should I wear?

I found a yummy recipe for
chocolate chip cookie dough balls
from the blog

1 cup butter softened
1 1/2 cups light brown sugar
1 tsp vanilla
2 cups flour
6 ounces mini chocolate chips

*Cream butter & sugar
*add rest of ingredients
*mix on low
*roll into 1" balls
*refrigerate for 30 minutes
*Can drizzle chocolate on or not

They are YUMMY!

Last days of Mexico

Good evening:)

Well, the weather sure gave us a huge welcome back to Oregon:)
Monday I thought our house would blow away.
Tuesday I thought I was going to be able to make a snowman.
Today, I was ready to get out the oars.
I wonder what tomorrow will bring:)

I wanted to share the last few days of our amazing Mexico trip with you:

This was the inn where I had my mocha each morning.

Mr. SSH is getting quite dark!

This is someone surfing who had just checked in.
They were trying to enjoy the last bit of light.

Mr. SSH takes amazing pictures:)

Mr. SSH enjoying the scenery.

I am relaxing on our bungalow porch right before leaving for home.

This is the mosquito netting around our bed.
I came to the conclusion that it is not romantic if you HAVE to use it.

This was the ceiling of our bungalow.

This was our sink area.

This is our shower area.

Here is our friend:)

This was the view from our hammock on our porch.

We ate at a funky restaurant.
When I say funky I mean put your used toilet paper in the garbage kind of funky.
They had pigs walking around.
On my own I would never have gone there.
Some people we met at our inn took us.
It was probably the best meal we had:)
This was the fishing village.
We had a view of the boats.

Here we are:)

I love how quaint it is:)

This was the house next to our inn.
The owner brought two of her girlfriends for the weekend.
Her husband built Oprah's house in Santa Barbara.
It was ginormous!
Can you imagine what their actual home looks like?

Goodbye Mexico.
We'll be back!

Happy Wednesday:)

~Dena;)
